(inspired by the short story "Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath" by H.P. Lovecraft)
It’s tucked in your bed,
where you’ve wound this thread,
Sown into cavities
where hearts do beat.
Pulled astray,
from the light of day.
Plucked just to make minds play
at dream-time wavelengths.
Drawn through…
Lured to …
Remembering the nights of before.
Allies of dreamlands’ galore
Determined to find your way
to romanticized cities.
The splendor of which
has carved a deep wish
and caused you to crave
the exalted dreamscapes.
You’ve been to this forest before
The allies you’ve made
have warned you with lore.
(Some may stow away
just to witness your fate.)
You weren’t supposed to dream of this.
You will know the price of bliss.
We will see what comes your way.
Curiosity’s desirable bait .
Only one king has ever returned.
It’s from him that you wish to learn
the location of surreal walls
concealing Old Ones.
Drawn into. …
Lured through …
What will come of you?
You’ve been to this port town before.
Illustration NOT by D. |
The men of mist and onyx
have warned you with lore.
On faceless flight beasts,
past dark nameless priests.
Unescapable breeze!
Pulling thee… …
To the unknown.
To the memorable home.
The otherside ,
of dreams and memories.
